Sensei Bhaskar Mishra is a highly dedicated Kyokushin Karate instructor in Kolkata, known for providing authentic full-contact karate training in areas including Tollygunge, Haridevpur, Behala, and nearby locations. With over a decade of experience in Kyokushin Karate practice, competition, and international training, he is committed to developing strong, disciplined, and confident martial artists.
He began his Kyokushin Karate journey at the age of 12 under the guidance of Late Sensei Ratan Chakraborty, who introduced him to the true spirit and discipline of traditional karate. Within just six months of training, Sensei Bhaskar participated in the 1st All Bengal Kyokushin Karate Tournament (2012, Haldia), where he secured 1st place in Kumite, establishing a strong foundation in competitive karate.
In 2013 at Chuchura, he achieved 2nd place in Kumite and 1st place in Kata, and continued to compete in multiple state-level and national-level Kyokushin Karate tournaments, gaining valuable experience through both success and challenge.
In 2015, he joined the Kyokushin Kan Organisation under Sensei Sukanta Pramanik. He successfully appeared for his Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt) in 2017 under Sensei Mihir Bag during the All India Kyokushinkan Summer Camp at Digha.
On 14th February 2018, Sensei Bhaskar Mishra founded the Kyokushin Karate Academy in Kolkata, with the mission of spreading genuine Kyokushin Karate training across Tollygunge, Haridevpur, Behala, and surrounding areas, focusing on self-defense, fitness, discipline, and character building for children, teenagers, and adults.
In 2019, he earned his Nidan (2nd Dan Black Belt) under Shihan Goksel Sahinbas at Digha. In April 2020, he joined Sekai Budo Karate-Do Renmei Kyokushin Karate International under Sensei Prithish Mukherjee, further strengthening his technical and instructional expertise.
Expanding his international exposure, in 2024, Sensei Bhaskar Mishra attended his first International Kyokushin Training & Seminar at Glasgow Honbu, United Kingdom, under Shihan Prasanna Fernando, where he successfully appeared for his Sandan (3rd Dan Black Belt).
In 2025, he participated in an intensive four-day Kyokushin Karate training camp in Japan, training under Shihan Satoshi Yui at Ikebukuro Sosai Dojo and Shihan Serizawa at Shizuoka, gaining direct experience from the roots of Kyokushin Karate founded by Masutatsu Oyama.
Today, Sensei Bhaskar Mishra continues to lead Kyokushin Karate classes in Kolkata, especially in Tollygunge, Haridevpur, and Behala, emphasizing full-contact training, traditional discipline, competitive excellence, and mental strength, making his dojo a trusted destination for karate training in South Kolkata.
